This week I'm headed to several days of learning and networking in Nashville, TN, where Professional Photographers of America is hosting its annual conference, Imaging USA 2010. Learning has always been a priority for me and Imaging USA is a great place to do just that.
I'm convinced that photographers who want to serve their clients better must be constant learners. Technology changes and we need to stay on top of the latest tools of the trade. Through conventions and trade shows like Imaging USA, we also learn about new developments from vendors--products, services, techniques--that enable us to better meet our clients' needs. We also gain important opportunities to meet other photographers and share ideas.
To that end, I've read dozens of books and hundreds of articles--both in print and online--over the last few years. In 2006, I attended a lighting workshop in Indianapolis with Atlanta-based music and editorial photographer Zack Arias and this past spring I attended a workshop with celebrity wedding photographer Bob Davis in Chicago. In addition to attending Imaging USA this year, I'm also participating in a portrait workshop in Los Angeles with commercial and fine art photographer Mark Robert Halper in May.
I'm looking forward to what this next week and this upcoming year hold, and I'm excited about learning some new things will enable me to better help you.
