Sabra, a business and marketing student at the University of Illinois, is participating in an upcoming spokesmodel pageant and hired me to make her competition headshots. She's no stranger to pageants: she was crowned the Miss Logan County Fair Queen in 2008. We spent a couple hours at the studio photographing her in a number of different outfits and lighting setups to get several "looks." I was shooting "tethered;" that is, with the camera connected directly to the computer. This enabled Sabra to see the images we were making as we made them, so that we could make adjustments to her pose or the light to get the ideal look for her. Overall, the session was a lot of fun (we talked about college, pageants, her experience as a fair queen, the holidays, and more...) and Sabra was very pleased with the results.
