My wife has been participating in the Hearts at Home conference in Normal, Illinois, for the last six or seven years. This annual event draws as many as 5,500 women to the Illinois State University campus for two days of training and encouragement on how to live as better wives and moms. I had the pleasure of attending it this year as well--not as a mom, of course, but as a photographer.
Though I'd prepared for the event as I would any project (prepping gear, visualizing the shot list, planning angles and vantage points, etc.), I was NOT prepared for how the event would affect me. This year's conference featured some excellent speakers: Jill Savage, Nicole Johnson, Sally Baucke, and several others. Rather unexpectedly, I found myself reacting to the speakers right along with the ladies in the crowd! Nashville artist Christy Nockels led moving sets of music at the main sessions. It was a real treat to see for myself this inspiring event that my wife and so many others have attended.
Below is a "highlight reel" from Saturday's session.
