How do you draw 5,000 moms from all parts of the country to Normal, Illinois? Host the Hearts at Home National Conference at Illinois State University there, of course.
Hearts at Home was established in 1994 by Jill Savage to "encourage, educate, and equip every mom in every season of motherhood using Christian values to strengthen families." This year, the national conference brought women from all over the country (and one woman from Austria) for two days of encouragement and learning from a variety of speakers and teachers, including Jennifer Rothschild, Kendra Smiley, Tammy Maltby, Dr. Kathy Koch, and a host of others. Attendees have the opportunity not just to hear these speakers and authors present, but also to meet them personally and chat with them at their booths in the exhibit hall. Central Illinois native Katie Eckeberger did a terrific job leading music in the main sessions.
My wife has attended the conference for several years and found it to be a terrific place to learn important parenting skills and connect with other moms. We've also been blessed to get to know many of the Hearts at Home staffers in the past couple years as well. Hearts at Home is doing good work for families all over the country.
