It's not every day that you're around for a 100th birthday.
Today the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 100th birthday with a big party on the square in Lincoln. Chamber director Andi Hake and her staff, not to mention countless volunteers, worked hard to put it together.
At 5:00, Lincoln Mayor Keith Snyder, Chamber President Don Peasley, and Logan County Board President Jan Schumacher each spoke briefly, congratulating the Chamber for its contribution to the community and wishing it well in the future. Andi and Ed then cut an anniversary ribbon and the crowd released helium-filled balloons in the air to commemorate the occasion.
Folks then lingered to visit, eat, and enjoy the Texas-styled blues of the Greg Glick band.
As a member of the Chamber and resident of Lincoln, I appreciate the work the organization does for the business and people of our community, and I hope it's around for its 200th birthday in 2113.
