EnjoyIllinois, the web site for the state's tourism office, has a nifty campaign with a G.I. Joe-sized Abraham Lincoln, A.K.A. "Mini Abe." He's been in a couple commercials, "Be More Whoa-ed" and "Be More Spontaneous," that you may have seen on TV
Mini Abe also makes his way around the state to county tourism bureaus for use in their own visitor promotion efforts. Search for MiniAbe on YouTube and you'll see.
So last week Mini Abe landed in Lincoln, his very first namesake town, to spend some time seeing the sites. I was his host on a number of outings and we've got some neat things to show you in the weeks ahead. I can't reveal anything just yet, but I did invite Mini Abe to the studio for a portrait (shown above). Looks pretty good for a guy who's over 200 years old.
Mini Abe and I were joined by a number of assistants and helpers this week, including Tourism president Tom O'Donahue, Lincoln mayor Keith Snyder, and some students at Lincoln Christian University--Kate Stough, Hannah Taylor, and Sydney Orr. We also had terrific partners in several Lincoln-area businesses.
More of Mini Abe to come...
