Grant, Senior ‘09

Grant lives just a couple doors down from me and we’ve enjoyed having him as a neighbor.  He plays bass and skates–and does both well.  And, we discovered, he takes a pretty good photograph too.

Hannah, Senior ‘09

I had the privilege of making Hannah’s senior photos this week.  She and her mom were fun and we made some great images.  Thanks Hannah!

Jairris - Senior 2007

I had the pleasure of meeting an interesting, fun, young lady this fall–Jairris. She’s bright, personable, and (from everything I can tell) has a great relationship with her mom. Here are a few of the images we made for her senior photos.

Jairris has been REALLY involved in drama at the high school, and she’s accumulated about a dozen t-shirts from the shows in which she’s been involved. She wanted to put together a shot with all of her t-shirts, so we came up with this:

Click the “big green box” for a video as well.

Thanks, Jairris, for allowing me to make your senior photographs!

Emily - Flower Girl

When my wife and I were married over 11 years ago, Emily was the flower girl in our wedding. Now she’s a senior in high school–where did the time go?

As the summer closed, we made our way to the shores of Lake Michigan for a chance to make some photographs.

A Car and His Boy

My brother-in-law is graduating from high school this year and with that comes the requisite senior portraits. He has a yellow Chevy Cobalt that he’s modified so, naturally, he needed photos of the car.

His mother, on the other hand, wanted some “nice” pictures, the kind she can frame and hang in the hall. So we did those, too.

And then I made a few pictures that were somewhat more “arty,” just fun, creative stuff.

Brother and Sister on a Breezy Day

Friday’s session was a real treat for me. I was able to work with a young brother and sister (10 and 12 years old) who, according to Mom, “hate having their pictures taken.” Nothing like a good challenge!

We started with a few shots at their home. The day was bright, clear, and gusty but we managed nonetheless. Mom likes black and white, so I was shooting with this in mind. Even so, some images beg for color.

Once we’d finished on the front porch, we headed to a local golf course. Brother loves golf so we set about capturing some images to show that.

Next it was Sister’s turn. We took some “serious” shots as well as some more photo-album-friendly poses. She plays flute in the band so we worked that in as well.

Mom and I crossed paths at church on Sunday and she mentioned that the kids told her they’d actually enjoyed taking photographs this time. Mission accomplished.
