Sessions

Summer Baby

Scheduling

While much of my shooting takes place in natural light outdoors, we can arrange your session at any time in almost any setting whether at your home, a local park or downtown area, or some other special location. The best outdoor light is typically available in the early morning or late afternoon and early evening. Overcast days also provide an excellent quality of light for portraits. Areas of open shade allow flexible scheduling at nearly any time of day as well. For indoor shooting, good light can be found near large windows.

When scheduling a session for your baby or young child, we can work around nap and meal times. Tired, hungry babies have little patience for photographers–just like tired, hungry adults. Having a snack (Cheerios, raisins, crackers) can help younger children through the session.

Seniors should come prepared to have fun! If you have a specific “look” you’re after or want to include special props or clothing, let me know so we can make plans to accommodate your desires.

Clothing

Clothing should be simple. Solid colors work very well; stripes and patterns should be avoided. Denim, khaki, dark blue, white, and black are all good choices. Young children with bare feet and bare arms can be especially endearing. Adults photograph well with long sleeves. If you have questions about clothing, I’m happy to make suggestions.

Your Proofs

After your session, your proofs will be available in an online gallery within two weeks. Share this with anyone you feel would be interested in seeing your photographs! Once you’ve chosen your favorite poses and placed your order, your prints are usually delivered within two to three weeks. Be sure to take advantage of the print discounts by ordering early–see the Rates page for details.
