Does a Professional Headshot Matter? :: Peoria, Illinois, Portrait and Headshot Photographer

Your photograph is probably somewhere online: a web site, LinkedIn, Facebook, twitter--somewhere.

You could take your own photograph (a "selfie") or you could get a friend to do a quick snapshot with your cell phone. Or maybe you have a "nice camera," a Nikon or Canon DSLR, and you could get someone to take your picture for you.

Given all the options, why would you need a professional photographer to make a headshot for you? Does it really matter?

My friends Karisa and Hannah joined me at the studio recently to answer those questions.

They took three photographs: a "selfie;" a cell phone portrait; and then a photo using my camera, a Panasonic GH3 with a Lumix 12-35 f/2.8 lens. That camera body and lens combination would currently set you back about $2,000.

Then I took their photographs.

How did they turn out? Take a look at the video above (also linked here).

Remember: your photographs should help people get to know, like, and trust you. If your images aren't doing that, consider finding someone who can make a good headshot for you.

I know a guy if you're in central Illinois.
