A couple weeks ago, I'd mentioned that I'd made headshot photographs for several local Chamber of Commerce members here in Lincoln. Here are another couple images from that session.
Marty Ahrends is the executive director of the Abraham Lincoln Healthcare Foundation. It's Marty's job to ensure that the hospital has the resources it needs to take of the people in Lincoln and Logan County. And she does it well.
I did some work for Marty last spring at a Foundation donor thank-you event. Images from that event were used to make slides for the Foundation's Donor Wall in the hospital lobby. So Marty and I have a little history working together.
For her headshots, Marty wanted two distinct looks: one that could be used for professional use (publicity, LinkedIn profile photo, etc.) and a more informal look. She described it as an author's book jacket photo.
The image at the top of the post was my favorite for her "professional" image, and we both loved the image below for her informal photo.
The lighting setup for this session was very simple: one speedlight light in a 28" softbox on the subject, a reflector opposite the main light, and a speedlight on the seamless white paper background (or not, depending on whether I wanted the background gray or white). Simple but effective.
